Lakewood Meadows HOA2024 Report
● Hosted homeowner annual meeting held February 2024
● Filed 2022 and 2023 990
● Paid 2022 and 2023 taxes
● Explored proposed pedestrian crossing at Acorn Hill; confirmed and recorded that the initial
easement for the trail was rescinded; that area is private property. As a result, the area does
not qualify for a pedestrian crossing.
● Gazebo was repaired; repairs were approved by the town and structure was reopened to
residents. Many thanks to Andy Gajewski and Jim Wright and resident volunteers for their
time and expertise to keep our costs to a minimum.
● The split-rail fence along Middle Cheshire Road, which was significantly damaged, was
removed. Where possible, rails were used to replace trail head railings.
● In areas where HOA properties abut private properties, a Cornell Cooperative Extension
agent identified ash trees that posed risk to homeowner properties. The only area impacted
was behind the homes on the south side of Quincy Circle. Volunteer David Tubman topped
marked ash trees; removing risk while leaving environmentally friendly snags for habitat.
● The construction shed was removed, and the area restored to green space, including planting
trees. The rationale for this action was emailed to residents in advance of the project and is
on record for reference. The permit, issued by the town, requires long-term reviews to ensure
that the area has been restored to grass. The first review was completed in late July.
● At Playground Workday, with the help of many volunteers led by Andy Gajewski, picnic tables
and signposts were stained, soil and seeds around plastic boarding added, trees trimmed,
weeding , playhouse alphabet letters repainted, landscape cloth under rubber mulch repaired
and mulch raked, sand added to sandbox, shooting lines on basketball court repainted. At a
later time, the stairs to top of slide were stained and new legs were made, installed, and
stained for picnic table.
● A sign – noting that the pickleball court is for residents and their guests – was posted, at
residents’ request.
● The town shared that the trees on upper Riley’s Run need to be trimmed to avoid damage by
snowplows. The town will advise respective residents of their concerns; this is not an HOA
issue to resolve.
● The town worked with Morrell Builders to “close” the development; Morrell was required to
restore all retention ponds. That work was completed. Jim Fletcher advised us that the ponds
should be fine for another ten years. If and when they need to be dredged, the town will do so
and prorate resident taxes to cover the cost of the work.
● Picnic tables and benches that were “split” have been repaired at a minimal cost thanks to
Larry DeClerck.
● Residents of eight Lakewood Meadows homes were welcomed. Each home is given a welcome
letter, a copy of our restrictive covenants, and some treats. A special thanks to Donna West
who does a wonderful job of ensuring that all new residents are welcomed to our
neighborhood.
